Going places with Neill & Brown

With new business abroad and expansion in the UK, one of the Humber region’s most respected and well-established logistics companies is really going places.

Neill & Brown Global Logistics is a national and international business serving companies with efficient supply-chain solutions throughout Europe and further afield.

Currently employing 90 people from its headquarters at Livingstone Road, Hessle, East Yorkshire, it operates a growing fleet of 40 vehicles and offers hundreds of thousands of secure, daily timed collections and deliveries.

The company handles a wide range of products, from food ingredients, packaging, machine equipment and general cargoes, to chemicals, hazardous and specialist loads.

It is also specialist in the movement of abnormal loads, providing scheduled door-to-door services from factory to site.

This year the company has added to its fleet with a new fully equipped abnormal load escort service van, which is suitable for the renewable energy sector. This will allow Neill & Brown Logistics to provide customers with an in-house vehicle escort service for use in the transport of wind turbine parts such as towers and blades.

This adaptable van can carry up to five euro pallets also making it economical to carry small loads while being fully compliant with the Highways Agency Code of Practice.

Aside from the vehicle fleet, Neill & Brown’s professional staff and expert technology also guarantees customers are kept informed of progress throughout the distribution process and can be confident that their products are secure at the company’s central hub 24/7, with its gated security and CCTV surveillance.

The company’s main market is Europe, including Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, but it also has a growing worldwide business in the US, India, and the Far East through its Hong Kong office and Far East agents.

Its focus on export has seen it look to develop the market in Poland, including the port city of Gdansk and the capital Warsaw.

Peter Brown, Neill & Brown’s managing director, said: “We have been delivering goods by sea and road to Poland for a number of years, and see the potential for creating a lot more business with the country.”

Among the goods that Neill & Brown takes to and from Poland are caravans, vehicle parts, chemicals, packaging, machinery and giftware.

Last year it joined forces with Japanese chemical company Nippon Gohsei, which seen a huge increase in demand for its world-leading product Soarnol that is used primarily by the food industry as a packaging material for preserving flavour and freshness.

The two companies have jointly developed a new 60,000 sq ft laboratory, manufacturing, storage and distribution facility at Marfleet Environmental Industries Park on Hedon Road, east Hull. Neill & Brown has occupied 40,000 sq ft of the total space to store and distribute Soarnol to customers throughout Europe.

Mr Brown added: “We developed a good working relationship with Nippon Gohsei over a number of years and our business has grown alongside the success of Soarnol.

“Storage and distribution are an essential part of the new operation and the Hedon Road facility is ideal due to its proximity to the Port of Hull. We hope that our presence will attract more businesses to this key location and new area of regeneration.”

The company is also a very active member of the region’s business community and believes it is important to work with other organisations to help to achieve economic growth.
