Neill and Brown Global Logistics has spent £90,000 on a new transit warehouse.

The 3,000sq ft facility at its Hessle headquarters was developed following a period of steady growth.

It is designed to fit the firm’s double-decker trailers and will house the loading and unloading of pallets bound for the UK and Ireland.

Neill and Brown has an exclusive distribution deal in the Hull area with European delivery company United Pallet Network.

Managing director Colin Moody said: “The new transit warehouse has been introduced following the success of our pallet business to improve control of the increasing number of pallets we are handling.

“The warehouse will ensure we continue to fulfil the work professionally and efficiently.

“We have made significant investments in our facilities, fleet, technology and employees over the past five years and will continue to do so to maintain our growth.”

Three new staff have been hired in the past two years to handle growing pallet demand, Mr Moody said.

The new building adds to Neill and Brown’s existing East Yorkshire warehouses, which together exceed 200,000sq ft.

It was put up by Hull firm Geoff Barber Construction.

It can handle up to 200 pallets a night, which are then taken to the United Pallet Network hub at Fradley Park, Lichfield.

Neill and Brown, a family-owned business, which celebrates its centenary in 2017, now employs more than 130 staff.

Last year, the company unveiled a £2.5m, 40,000sq ft international warehouse at Marfleet Environmental Technology Park in Hedon Road, east Hull.

It followed an earlier investment at the site in 2011, when it joined forces with chemical company Nippon Gohsei to develop a storage and distribution facility for its Soarnol product.
