Neill & Brown Global Logistics is urging companies in the Humber to take advantage of opportunities in Poland following a highly successful trade mission.

The Lincolnshire chamber patron has just returned from the port city of Gdansk and the capital Warsaw where it formed a partnership with a leading Polish logistics company.

In addition, Neill & Brown, which is based at Hessle near Hull, has been awarded a further contract to transport timber as a result of the mission during November.

Peter Brown, Neill & Brown’s managing director, said: “We have been delivering goods by sea and road to Poland for a number of years, and saw potential for creating a lot more business with the country.

“The UK is Poland’s largest trading partner and the value of UK exports to Poland has soared from £1.4 billion in 2004 to £3.8 billion last year.

“There are many export opportunities to be pursued by SMEs particularly in infrastructure, energy and the service industries.”

Among the goods that Neill & Brown takes to and from Poland are caravans, vehicle parts, chemicals, packaging, machinery and giftware.

Mr Brown said he recommended that companies considered taking part in trade missions to Poland and elsewhere. “It is very important to be prepared and we ensured that we had meetings set up with appropriate companies before visiting as well as having literature prepared in English and Polish.”

The company operates a fleet of 40 vehicles and offers hundreds of thousands of secure, timed collections and deliveries tailored for a wide range of products, from food ingredients, packaging, machine equipment and general cargoes, to chemicals, hazardous and specialist loads. It also has large, secure warehousing facilities.

The company’s main market is Europe, in particular Italy and Belgium, but it also has growing worldwide business in the US, in India, and the Far East through its Hong Kong office and Far East agents.

It became a patron of Lincolnshire Chamber earlier this year and is keen to talk to members about helping them to export. “We have vast experience in exporting and many helpful contacts, coupled with a strong desire to help the region succeed,” added Mr Brown.
