Two Hull-based business experts are to represent the Humber at a global economic forum in Mumbai. For Peter Brown and Rob Penrose, the General Assembly of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) will be an opportunity to promote the region’s growing credentials as a hub for international trade. During four days in India, the two World Trade Centre Hull & Humber directors will have the chance to forge links with WTCA members from almost 100 countries. Mr Brown, managing director of Neill & Brown Global Logistics, said: “The WTCA’s mission is to foster international trade and there can be no question about the Humber being in a strong position to reap greater benefits from the global marketplace.”
The Mumbai event, from April 21 to 24, will be the 44th annual assembly and comes at a time when UK businesses are being urged to look at markets beyond Europe, to countries such as India, that have been showing significant growth. Although the breakneck pace of earlier this century has slowed, the India Ratings Agency is forecasting 6.1 per cent for 2013-14.
