Initially, the company focused on handling imported timber from Scandinavian countries due to its strategic location on the Humber estuary, which provides vital links to mainland Europe.
During World War II, Neill & Brown played a significant role in supplying provisions for the military, demonstrating our ability to handle complex logistics and support critical operations.
We evolved into logistics for the region’s successful caravan industry, which has led to our specialism in the movement of abnormal loads by road throughout the UK and Europe.
Following a period of substantial growth, in 1990 we relocated our headquarters to Livingstone Road in Hessle. During this decade we invested significantly in progressive IT systems, and we continue to do so to this day.
We collaborated with Nippon Gohsei (now Mitsubishi Chemicals Group) to establish new facilities at Marfleet, East Hull, while continuing to develop our international presence through our European and worldwide partners.
In 2013, we were chosen as East Yorkshire's exclusive partner to the UK's leading pallet network, developing our capabilities in UK consignments, and in 2014, we opened our second warehousing and distribution facility near the Port of Hull.
We really pushed the boat for our 100th birthday, including special livery, honouring our staff and sponsoring Hull's City of Culture year. From humble beginnings when our first horse-drawn wagon rumbled out of Hull Docks, to a respected global logistics provider, 2017 provided the ideal moment to reflect on our achievements.
Neill & Brown navigated the global pandemic and Brexit while continuing to grow. In response to demand, we expanded our team of Customs Clearance experts to create a dedicated department and recruited three new directors as we look forward to the another decade of growth.
